Sedona Weather: How's the weather in Sedona, AZ?We're often asked when is the best time to take a Sedona retreat vacation. The answer is any time! In fact, the weather is one of the best things about being here. Located 4,400 feet above sea level, Sedona is about half way in elevation between the Colorado Plateau to the north, and the Sonoran Desert to the south. This gives us a mild four season climate that is cooler than Phoenix and warmer than Flagstaff. With over 300 days of sunshine per year, each season in Sedona has something special to offer. The summer "monsoon season" usually lasts from early July to mid September, bringing spectacular afternoon thunderstorms and rainbows. Fall colors peak in late October and early November. The average annual precipitation in Sedona is 17.15 inches, with most of the moisture coming in the winter months. It does snow here, which makes the scenery even better! Snow typically does not stay on the ground for more than a day or two. The warmest months are June, July and August, with approximately 20 days per year exceeding 100°F. The record high temperature recorded in Sedona is 110°F.
