SpiritQuest Sedona Vortex Tours

The special beauty of Sedona is undeniable.  It is the most beautiful place on the Colorado Plateau, which is in turn the single most beautiful natural feature in North America -- home to the greatest concentration of National Parks and National Monuments in the U.S.  Travel more than 15 miles east or west of town and the red rock cliffs quickly vanish.

In addition to being a place of profound natural beauty, Sedona is also a sacred place.  In fact, it's the single most visited pilgrimage destination in North America.  Many visitors to Sedona are seeking to experience something that must be felt rather than seen:  Vortex energy!

The most common question first time visitors to Sedona ask... "What is a vortex?"  The simple answer: "vortex" is a scientific term that refers to spiraling energy.  A vortex can be created in any substance that flows, such as wind or water.  Tornados are an example of a high energy vortex that everyone is familiar with.

Sedona's Vortex sites are not caused by wind or water, but by psychic geomagnetic energy emanating from the land itself.  For those with high levels of spiritual awareness, it's easy to feel this energy in Sedona.  The Vortex at Cathedral Rock (shown here) is considered to be magnetic, which helps to create a relaxed feeling throughout the mind and body.  This Vortex strengthens the qualities normally thought of as feminine, such as kindness, compassion, patience, and the ability to anticipate the impact your actions will have on others.

A retreat participant enjoys the view from Cathedral Rock during a Sedona Vortex Tour.

Is the Sedona Vortex real or just some New Age hoax?  While the Sedona vortex is essentially a spiritual phenomenon, it can also be understood scientifically by considering the geology of the area.  Looking at the bigger picture, Sedona sits right at the base of the Colorado Plateau, a huge chunk of the Earth's crust that has been rising for millions of years.  Originally rising to a height of almost 15,000 feet, the Colorado Plateau is one of the greatest geologic uplifts in Earth's history.

The town is also due south of the San Francisco Peaks... and connected to this massive strato volcano by the geologically active Oak Creek fault.  There are actually over 600 volcanoes surrounding Sedona, some erupting molten lava as far back as 9 million years ago; others as recently as 1000 years ago. The largest of these, the San Francisco Peaks, are considered to be sacred by the Hopi people, who claim the mountain is home to the Kachina spirits.

Looking closer in, Sedona is located between Montezuma's Well and Boynton Canyon.  These two sites have been considered sacred by Arizona tribes for thousands of years, who consider Montezuma's Well to be the "Place of Emergence."  Geologists now tell us that the bottom of the Well is a geologic mystery... a place unlike any other on Earth, where spring water turns layers of silica into a swirling pattern of concentric circles.  If Montezuma's Well is the Place of Emergence, then Boynton Canyon is the "Garden of Eden" for the Yavapai people... the place where First Woman lived with her son.

Did Native Americans consider the Sedona area to be sacred?

Millions of visitors to Sedona have reported remarkable experiences here.  What can be proven with absolute certainty is that the Sedona Vortex induces anything from a heightened sense of awareness to feelings of profound spiritual enlightenment.  When the experiences of all these people are considered together, it seems certain that something very special is going on in Sedona.

Add to that incredible celestial displays -- some of the most frequent and convincing UFO sightings ever reported -- and you have one of the most truly intriguing supernatural places on earth!  Many locals are now convinced the Vortex is really a portal between our dimension and a higher level of consciousness.

Yet Sedona is just one of many sacred sites on our planet.  Other such sites include Jerusalem, Mecca, Stonehenge, Machu Picchu, and the Pyramids of Egypt.  These sacred sites are the most visited tourist destinations on Earth.

Nowhere else is there such a concentration of Earth's power and beauty as in Sedona.  The entire valley is one large vortex, and there are numerous sites around town where visitors can connect and interact with it.  Local residents recognize four sites where the energy is particularly strong: Bell Rock, Cathedral Rock, Boynton Canyon and Airport Mesa.
